In a remarkable show of commitment to grassroots development, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, fondly known as Dodo, the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), empowered 500 indigenes and residents with ₦100,000 each. The initiative, which took place at the Council Secretariat in Arigbanla, Orile-Agege, on Wednesday morning, was met with jubilation and heartfelt gratitude from the beneficiaries.
The registration exercise began with the submission of their details and Bank Account information, in the early hours, with hundreds of residents, many of them elderly and vulnerable citizens, trooping to the Secretariat to participate. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the crowd sang in unison: “Dodo Dodo, Dodo Dodo, Dodo Dodo, Dodo Mose E Dada,” celebrating the Chairman’s generosity and leadership.

Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu graced the occasion in grand style, warmly engaging with the people. In his address, he explained that while ₦100,000 may be considered a token, it was designed to help residents meet pressing needs or start small ventures. He emphasized that empowerment must be continuous, not a one-off gesture, and assured the people that similar programs would be sustained monthly.
He also stressed the importance of civic responsibility, urging residents to participate actively in ongoing Voters-card registration and APC e-Membership enrollment. According to him, these steps are crucial in strengthening democratic participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event was attended by key stakeholders and heads of departments within Orile-Agege LCDA. Among the dignitaries present were:
Mr. Tijani Olufemi – Chief of Staff, Mr. Sunday Adefamoye – Chief Press Secretary, other council officials and community leaders
Their presence underscored the collective support for the Chairman’s vision of grassroots empowerment and inclusive governance.
Hon. Akinola reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring that empowerment initiatives remain a continuous program. He noted that the council’s priority is to directly impact the lives of residents, particularly the vulnerable, by providing financial support and encouraging civic engagement.
This initiative, driven by the Akin-Dodo Media Team, reflects a broader vision of social welfare and community development in Orile-Agege LCDA. For many residents, the empowerment program is more than financial aid, it is a symbol of hope, inclusion, and leadership that listens to the people.
