ORILE-AGEGE LCDA FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF DESKS, BENCHES, AND LEARNING MATERIALS TO SCHOOLS

In a bold stride towards improving the quality of education and ensuring a conducive learning environment for young pupils, the Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) officially flagged off the distribution of desks, benches, and writing materials to all public nursery and primary schools within the council. 

The landmark ceremony, held at St. Peter Nursery and Primary School, was presided over by the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu (Dodo). The initiative underscores the council’s commitment to tackling infrastructural challenges in schools and providing every child with the tools needed to thrive academically. 

The event drew a distinguished audience, reflecting the importance of the project to the community. Among those in attendance were: 

– Hon. Wale Fayemi – Vice Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA 
– HRM. Oba, Kamila Ambaliu – Alaigege of Orile-Agege 
– Elder. Safari Adaranijo – Apex Leader 
– Hon. Omotunde Abdul-Kareem Afolabi – Leader of the House 
– Hon. Balogun Ajibade – Deputy Leader of the House 
– All six Councilors representing the Ward’s of Orile-Agege 
– Heads of Departments (HoDs) across the LCDA 
– Parents, Teacher’s, and student representatives from various schools 

The presence of traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders highlighted the collective effort to prioritize education as a cornerstone of development. 

In his keynote address, Hon. Akinola emphasized the critical role of education in shaping the future of Orile-Agege’s children. He noted that the distribution of desks and benches was not merely about furniture but about restoring dignity to the learning process.

“Every child deserves a seat, every teacher deserves a desk, and every school deserves an environment that inspires learning,” he declared. 

He further explained that each student will be registered with their personal chair and desk, ensuring accountability and proper management of resources. Teachers and school administrators will also benefit from the provision, creating a balanced and supportive atmosphere for both learners and educators. 

The initiative extended beyond furniture distribution. Writing materials were also handed out to pupils, ensuring that no child is left behind due to lack of basic learning tools. Hon. Akinola revealed that the council is working on innovative educational programs, including partnerships with Chinese expatriates to introduce technology-driven learning methods. 

He described this as part of his broader vision of “catching them young” equipping children with modern skills and knowledge from their formative years. The writing materials support also extends  to junior secondary schools, bridging the gap between primary and higher education. 

The highlight of the ceremony was the official commissioning of the desks and benches. Pupils from across Orile-Agege LCDA sat on the newly distributed furniture, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in the council’s educational journey. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as parents and teachers expressed gratitude for the council’s intervention. 

The flag-off ceremony was more than an administrative exercise; it was a celebration of hope and progress. By addressing the infrastructural needs of schools, the Orile-Agege LCDA is laying the foundation for improved academic performance, reduced dropout rates, and a brighter future for its children. 

Stakeholders unanimously agreed that the initiative would go a long way in boosting morale among pupils and teachers, while also reaffirming the council’s dedication to grassroots development.



The distribution of desks, benches, and writing materials across Orile-Agege LCDA marks a significant milestone in the council’s educational agenda. With Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu’s forward-looking vision and the collective support of community leaders, Orile-Agege is positioning itself as a model for educational advancement in Lagos State. 

As the students take their seats, both literally and figuratively, the message is clear: education remains the bedrock of progress, and Orile-Agege is determined to invest in its future.
