Agege and Orile-Agege once again proved its reputation as a political powerhouse on Monday, May 18, 2026, when the All Progressives Congress (APC) held its Lagos West Senatorial Primary Election at the Agege Stadium. The event drew an impressive crowd of party faithful, leaders, and stakeholders, showcasing the strength of grassroots mobilization and unity within the APC family.

Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu (Dodo), the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, joined other prominent leaders of Agege in rallying support for the exercise. Their collective presence underscored the solidarity and organizational capacity that has long defined Agege’s political landscape.

The primary election was conducted peacefully and efficiently, with delegates from across the 11 wards participating in the process. The outcome reflected overwhelming support for Sen. Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, who secured a remarkable 16,031 votes, cementing her position as a formidable candidate for the Lagos West Senatorial seat.

Observers and party members alike commended the leadership of Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, whose influence and political structure were instrumental in ensuring the smooth conduct of the primary. His efforts, alongside those of other Agege leaders, reinforced the APC’s dominance in the area and set the tone for future electoral victories.
